Homemade Soap with Essential Oils

Do you love to make your own soaps? Spark Naturals essential oils are perfect for you to create great smelling soaps! Here is a simple way to make your own soaps if you have always wanted to try it!

Things You'll Need
1/4 cup water
Dried and pulverized herbs (optional)
Spark Naturals essential oil scents
Approximately two cups shredded Ivory soap
5-6 drops of your favorite essential oil
2 large mixing bowls
Wooden spoon
Glass plate
Soap making mold

Directions:
1-Take a handful of your crumbled herbs and place them in a mixing bowl. You can also choose to include just a single herb if you want a more concentrated scent. Some good herb choices include lavender and mint. Pour 1/4 cup boiling water over your herbs.

2-Add five or six drops of essential oil to your herb mixture. Again, the choices for the Spark Naturals essential oil would depend on your preference. Avoid mixing in too many types of oil scents so as not to end up with a strong, overpowering product.

3-Stir the mixture until the herbs and essential oils have been mixed evenly. In another mixing bowl, shred a bar of Ivory soap finely. Pour the boiling herbal water and oil mixture over the shredded Ivory soap, covering the soap shreds completely.

4-Take a wooden spoon and mix the herbal water and shredded Ivory, until the soap has melted completely. Make sure that the herb bits are evenly distributed in the soap mixture.

5-Wait around 15 to 20 minutes. The soap mixture should harden just enough for it to remain pliable, while being workable enough to press into molds without burning your skin.

6-Divide the mixture into smaller portions. You can either press the portions into the selected soap making mold, or just roll into balls. When the soap has hardened in the mold, gently remove.

To make prying the soap away from the mold easier, coat the mold with vegetable oil before pressing the soap mixture into it.

7-Let the finished soap dry for three to four days on a glass plate in an cool area of your home. After drying, enjoy your handmade soap!
