Easy Dairy-Free Homemade Truffles

RECIPE: Quick and simple homemade truffles! Try this foolproof recipe for making your own DAIRY-FREE homemade truffles flavored with essential oils. Another GREAT one to keep handy for the holidays, especially for friends and family with dietary restrictions!

EASY Dairy-Free Homemade Truffles
-1/4 c cocoa or raw cacao powder
-2.5 tsp agave, maple syrup, or coconut nectar (low glycemic)
-1 tsp melted virgin coconut oil
-1 drop essential oil - try Wild Orange, Peppermint, Lemon, Lime, Bergamot, Tangerine, Coriander, or Cinnamon Bark (if using Cinnamon bark, be sure to use the toothpick method - drop a drop on a toothpick and swirl it in the mixture, to taste).

Directions: Gently melt the coconut oil in a double boiler or in a saucepan at a very low heat on your stovetop. Measure cocoa or cacao powder into a bowl and add melted coconut oil and sweetener. Mix to combine and add essential oil to taste. Transfer to the fridge to cool until it is easy to roll the substance. Roll in cocoa powder and/or spices (for instance, rolling truffles with Wild Orange essential oil in a mixture of cocoa powder and cinnamon would be delicious!) to coat. Store in refrigerator until ready to eat.

OPTIONAL: If you wish to add vanilla extract, we suggest adding 1/2 tsp and reducing the sweetener to 2 tsp. For a creamier texture, reduce the sweetener by 1 tsp and replace with 1 tsp coconut cream.
